Columbus Beer Club

I was meaning to update the blog with all of the Columbus Beer Club outings but haven't done so since the very first one.. :(

Tonight we hit The Elevator. I'm not really sure why. My understanding was that Beer Club would allow us to try new bars around Columbus and for the most part, The Elevator is one of our favorite, most frequented bars. A bit about the history (http://www.elevatorbrewing.com/about.php): "The building, rich in history, is on the national registry of historic landmarks and has been restored to much of its original grandeur". It is a beautiful building with great beer. And a kick ass happy hour. Inquire about their MBA or PHD programs! (Masters of Beer Appreciation and Professor of Hearty Drinking!) $2.50 Happy Hours and once you are in the MBA program you get a monster mug (and still filled for $2.50 for happy hour, which is fro 3 - 7 (or something like that).

Previously, we went to Barley's Smokehouse. Another odd choice as most in beer club have been there previously. Maybe that is an assumption. We currently have 14 people in Beer Club and maybe a lot have been there, but a lot haven't. Anyways, Barley's is a good bar. Especially Smokehouse, in Dublin, on the patio during the summer. Their Russian Imperial Stout is amazing!

Before that, we all brought beer to a member's house that we wanted the club to try out. There were so many options there. I tried to get a taste of everything, and think I almost did.

Here are some of those beers (I brought the Vanilla Porter):

And prior to that Bodega, which has 50 drafts on tap. They have soooo many good ones it is hard to list a favorite... So there you go.. all places we have tried so far:

Hal & Al's
Bodega
Member's Home
Barley's Smokeyhouse
Elevator Brewery.

Our choices in the future:
Matt the Miller
World of Beer
Mellow Mushroom
Studio 62

Let me know if there are any great Columbus establishments we should try out. The only criteria is really good beer (but good food helps as well!)
